Media Literacy by Kathy Cassidy
This video shows how fast technology is growing and how it is helping our children. I was very amazed after watching this video because it brought to my attention I will have students just like the ones from the video in my class. I have to be able to educate them on very high standards. It is very unique how they understand what a blog, wiki and skype is and how to use these programs.
The children in the video understands the purpose of a blog and the proper way to comment on a blog. Children today who have the material and tools to learn are learning at a much faster rate than children long ago. The rate at which they are learning will possible allow the students of the future to graduate at an earlier age and give them more opportunities within their career.
Iphone used by 1 year old baby
The video on the baby using the iphone is amazing. Children developing cognitively fast. Their intelligences is far beyond the normal I Q. This video is an example of how as a future teacher I need to be prepared to educate my students as well as get educated by my students. There will be times when my students will have to instruct me which is all apart of being an educator. Teaching is becoming more experimental and exciting which will drive more people to look into the teaching profession.
Podcast
The smartboard lessons podcast was recorded in the process of the producer eating lunch. I did not enjoy this podcast much because of how it was recorded. The kidcast podcast was interesting to me because the topic touched on video podcasting which some people refer to as vodcasting. In this process you are doing a podcast but using video on the media. There are different formats of podcasting.
Audio podcasting is the best and safest podcasting. The importance of video podcasting is to capture nonverbal interactions. Content may require demonstration.Podcasting consist of using a portable media player. Students learn more by visual demonstration.
EdTechTalk is a podcast of a radio talk show. Students will bring their opinion about the topic of the show. the show give students opportunity to create a show and what do they think of it. The most challenging part of this podcast is finding guest. The host would like for the students to find the guest of the show. Facebook is one source for finding guest.
Macbreak Weekly podcast is about publishing high quality blog. Advertising through a podcast. I did not enjoy this podcast much because of the way it was recorded. This Week in Photography podcast is a talk show advertisement. A guy is interviewing people and getting their opinion on blogging. I did enjoy this podcast because it not only advertised but it also gave people the opportunity to speak their opinion on the product.

A Vision of Students Today by Michael Wesch
In this video students were able to use google docs and spreadsheets to edit information about a particular subject. In college many teachers do not know your name. At big universities you are only a number. Students are assigned readings that only about 30% is relevant to their life. Most college students only read about 45% of the assigned material. As students we are forced to purchase hundred dollar books that we never open. When it is time to sell the books back they are only worth 10% of the original purchase or they are no longer in use by that university. Many students never come to class. Students are given multiple test that are irrelevant to their major and many students dropout because of this matter.
This movie really captured my college experience because I have always thought about every fact that was outlined in the video. I would have added more demonstrations of daily life task of a student. An example of a student performing all the task that were outlined would have given the video viewers a better understanding of characteristics of students today. Also teachers do not possess the adequate amount of professional development.
It's Not About The Technology by Kelly Hines
Technology is a tool and can only be useful if you understand how to use it. The tools teachers are using today for instruction will not be without an evolution mindset. The list of four things that teachers must recognize in order to be effectively and positively impact students are the key facts to becoming a successful educator. Teachers also have to be dedicated in order for them to educate the students to their full potential.
A successful teacher has to be kept updated on technology, research and the proper teaching tools. Many teachers are not taking out the time to familiarize themselves with the updated material required to teach the students. Due to the lack of knowledge and passion to learn many of our teachers are causing our students to be below the basic standards for learning.
Is it okay to be a Technologically Illiterate Teacher? by Karl Fisch
Many teachers are technologically illiterate which is causing our students to fall below the basic learning standards. Teachers are not investing in the time to get educated on advancing technology. Teachers should be required throughout the year to take technology courses to stay updated on the latest technology. Once they have mastered the skill they should be required to teach it to their students.
Many teachers are using the excuse technology is advancing to rapidly and that is the excuse for not keeping up. Mr. Fisch mentioned in his post that technology is as important as reading and I totally agree. Technology is apart of just about every new project that arise in today's society. Technology is used as additional ways to communicate, liberate, and accomplish goals. Therefore it is not okay to be a technologically illiterate teacher.

The Correlation of Technology and Students
Mr. Winkle Wakes by Matthew Needleman
Mr. Winkles video is a great example of how education has evolved over a period of time through technology. The video was a great example of how it does not take long for education and its techniques to change. One day children were learning from chalk boards and today they are learning from power point presentations associated with technology. Mr. Winkle also found some aspects of education to be the same from 100 years ago.
Mr. Winkle's video was a great explanation of how education is advancing. Students are evolving into learning from computers more so than textbooks. Technology is not only evolved through education, but also health care. Also, Mr. Winkle discovered many new machines in health care that were not there many years ago. However, they are here today thanks to the advancement of technology.

Did You Know 3.0 by Karl Fisch
The information given in the video was quite enlightening. The statistics of china soon being the number one English speaking country in the world has me puzzled slightly. China's population is growing tremendously. Therefore, it leads me to wonder why their country may take over the English language. I have concluded that all of the statistics outlined in the video are technologically related.
I find it hard to believe India has more honors students than America when America is believed to be more advanced educational and technology wise. I find it interesting that 1 out of 8 couples married in the U.S last year met online. All of these statistics not only give you an idea related to education but to the world itself as a whole. Basically technology is taking over the world faster than we can imagine.

Harness Your Students Digital Smarts by Vicki Davis
This video brought to my attention very interesting facts about being an educator but learning as you teach. I use to think that learning as you teach made an educator look somewhat uneducated. After the video I understood how learning as you teach is not only helpful but is almost a requirement if you are teaching technology. Technology is rapidly advancing each and every day so it is almost impossible to know everything about it.
Ms. Davis mentioned in her video that learning by only pencil and only paper will allow only certain children to succeed which is very true. Many children require other techniques and methods of learning and many of the techniques do not involve pencil and paper. Technology has opened the pathway for learning and is allowing students to better educate themselves as well as others.

The Importance of Creativity by Sir Ken Robinson
This speech should be viewed by many teachers because creativity is not emphasized enough in today's society. Creativity is as important now as literacy and it should be treated that way, but it is not. When children are young being wrong is not as frightening as it is when they are older. Being wrong is now frowned upon and has caused educators to educate people out of their creative capacities.
Creativity has produced technology and is allowing work to be less strenuous. The intelligence of creativity has three important meanings. Intelligence is diverse, dynamic, and distinct. The story of Gillian Lynne should be told to many educators for them to get a better understanding of how to nurture a child with a learning disorder. The speech was great material and should be valued by many people who do not understand creativity and how it influences us as maturing human beings.
