Assignment for 02/21/10

How it could be useful to you as a teacher.
It is a comprehensive resource for educators who wish to use technology in the classroom. This site would be very useful to me and many other educators because it provides resources for web design, links to research publications, and an overview of consulting service . The website provide many ways for a teachers to enhance their teaching and students learning through technology. It also provides many teaching strategies for K-12 teachers.

The website gives many examples on how to use instant messaging, pod casting, rubrics, multimedia and much more. The website also provides links to workshops Dr. Christie has invited which is a great example for a teacher to get an idea of what a teachers workshop provides to them. It provides links to representative research publications that are online which give students an opportunity to explore the world from inside the classroom. The website provides free consultation for teachers who are looking to engage in challenging, and invigoration activities to help them become a better teacher.

Suggestions or experiences in using ipods
Ipods are easy to use and have a clear goal of facilitation the effective production, transfer and dissemination of digital audio and video and beyond the limitations of the analogue world. Ipods are now deconstruction the border between education and entertainment. Campuses throughout the nation are now transforming ipods into education tools, a trend Apple hopes to capitalize on with "itunes U" a nationwide service that makes lecture, and other materials available online. They are also study aids for students. It allows for students to fast-forward to a part of a lecture they may not have understood the first time. Some K-12 educators and schools have also started using the ipods to enhance their curriculum and to support learning objectives in content areas such as -mathematics, science, reading, and history. In K-12 for instance, foreign language students in an elementary classroom can create an Internet shared presentation slide show report on their community and using the ipod and voice recorder the children can create audio recordings in a foreign language to add to their digital photos and then the narrated slide show with their partner schools. Students at Duke University used the ipod in many ways. They downloaded a specially created calendar of the athletic events on campus, they also used it as a pseudo-PDA. Some students reported tracking birthdays, exams, and other critical dates. http://practicalprincipals.net/
